Dear Members,

As you are all aware, there are new COVID-19 restrictions coming into effect on Monday Sept. 20th, 2021. Our club’s programs are all at City of Airdrie facilities and therefore we have to comply with the Restriction Exemption Program that they are implementing (Please see the email from the City of Airdrie below)

This means that any member who is 18 years and up must show proof of vaccination or confirmation of a negative test within 72 hours. We have received official word from the Province that youth (12-17 years) are exempt from demonstrating proof of vaccination, medical exemption or negative COVID-19 test accessing a facility with a Restriction Exemption Program in place as long as they are there for the sole purpose of taking part in activity. Any spectators will also have to prove vaccination status.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the team.

Kind regards,

Airdrie Skating Club

Message from the City of Airdrie:

Good Evening,

Genesis Place will be implementing the Restriction Exemption Program effective September 20, 2021.

Faced with the same difficult choice as other businesses, choosing the Restriction Exemption Program rather than a 1/3 capacity means more of our citizens can stay active in recreation and culture opportunities.

Beginning September 20th, anyone coming into Genesis Place or any of our arenas will need to show proof of at least one dose of vaccination, a negative test result from a rapid test within the last 72 hours or proof of a medical exemption. After October 25, proof of two vaccination doses will be required.

Indoor recreation
For those 12 and older (spectators, participants, parents, coaches, volunteers, etc) to access Genesis Place or any of our arenas proof of a single dose of vaccination or a negative rapid covid test from within the last 72 hours will be required. Children 11 and under do not require anything to enter the facility. All attendees will have to wear a mask while not participating in activity. Our understand is that if the ‘Restriction Exemption Program’ is implemented that all activities/capacities can run as per normal.

Facility Rentals: Genesis Place will have someone at the door ensuring vaccination/testing requirements are met and masks for worn for everyone entering the building. We ask that you forward out information to your participants, parents, coaches, etc. to ensure everyone is aware of the new restrictions coming into place on Monday, September 20th, 2021. We anticipate some members/participants will not want to continue due to these increased restrictions.

As the full details on this program are released by Alberta Health, we expect information on restrictions will be further clarified and evolve over the coming weeks.

Most importantly, we know this is a divisive topic. We understand not everyone will agree. But we thank you in advance for your patience and your kindness to our staff who have not chosen to implement these restrictions but who are asked to help enforce them.

I’m here to assist and answer questions. Please familiarize yourself with the latest health order which provides information on masking, distancing, etc.

Congratulations to last
