Our competitive skaters are committed to excellence and must abide by our "Competitive Code of Conduct". In addition to their on-ice training, competitive skaters are expected to maintain a high level of fitness by attending mandatory off ice classes.
Skaters in this program will have demonstrated that they consistently have a strong work ethic and are willing to work hard to take their training to the next level. CompetitiveSkate is designed to help skaters learn strategies and techniques that will help them in a competitive skating career. They will receive focused lessons in a group environment, as well as have the advantages of sport professionals being brought in to work with the athletes when available.
It is a privilege to get into the CompetitiveSkate Program and skaters must earn the right to not only be in the program, but remain in the program. Coaches are looking for athletes who:
Show initiative in wanting to better their skating abilities.
Are motivated every time they step on the ice to practice to the best of their abilities.
Are not easily distracted and are able to focus for extended periods of time.
Understand that a solid skating foundation is not just built on ice, but is part of a well-rounded lifestyle, including good nutritional habits, using off ice training practices, mental and emotional stability, etc.
Competes (2 competitions or more per season) and is looking to enter/or is in the competitive stream within 3 years.
CompetitiveSkate and STARSkate Active are exclusive. A skater cannot do both.
Once a skater is able to show that they have all these traits, regardless of background or skating ability, they will be coach recommended and receive an invite to these sessions.
If you are interested in applying to be in this Program, please contact Lynnell Moss – Director of Skating. The Director of Skating may use his/her discretion to move a skater to a different session to provide the best training environment for all.
